Here is what I do to get the ground clearance and sleek look to the early Ford chassis If you cut the frame on this angle the skid plate tubes will follow it very closely. This will add to the overall looks. A tip is to leave the bottom of the frame and just cut the side out. Then flatten and dolly the remaining bottom of the frame and work it up to the front.  Trim to fit then weld together and grind smooth for a nice finish.

A tube is welded across the front of the frame horns. I used 1 3/4 on this truck. Make sure to square up the frame horns first! Sometimes they can be tweaked. Now you have a front support to do the down tubes to the front crossmember. Fit and weld these into place. Add a middle tube for rock bashing support. Believe me you need it sometimes! Front bumper kit price is $650 for a you fit and weld together package. You will need good skills to complete this.

Here is a great picture of my 8 quart oil pan for the 460 engine into early ford chassis. Too bad the engine mounts cant be seen. They are part number FT-460

You would not believe how much damage to grill and fenders you can avoid by building your front bumper this way. This was recently put to the test as the following pictures will show.

OK I cant stand it anymore, my baby got wounded. Currently I am replacing roof skin and 2 doors. The bedsides held up great! The front fenders need some repair and I cracked the hood in one place but the grill for the most part remained intact! So I am in the process of designing some new flared fenders for the front. Be on the lookout for these later this year.
